Glen Coe, Multi-Row Panoramas And Morning Violets
October 2019. Glen Coe, highlands of Scotland.
I’d been to Glen Coe a couple of timers before, as a enthusiastic tourist. But this time, I had my campervan, and an able bodies assistant.
Together we were up before sunrise and hauled our asses up the side of the glen to get into position for a key perspective of the sunrise down the valley.
I used a huge multirow pano device, a medium format camera and a 24mm (18mm full frame) lens, and stitched together 6 shots to come up with this one shot.
Its a nice perspective with the light coming through the glen leading to the wee loch in the distance.
Its missing some elements, the clouds are a bit of a mess and the light is a bit flat.
But, the scene is bold. The experience was an adventure.
The accompanying shots were satisfying too.
Low clouds caught the sunrise light and created a ceiling of colour.
Two of the three sisters dipped in reds.
I actually love this image. The shape of the light. The minimalism. The pastel blue, rumbly sky and yellow-greens.
This is one of my personal favourites.
Everywhere you look, rich scenes with many elements.
And when you have an assistant, get some Hasselblad action portraits.
